Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of LENT.
As a local church family, we begin this season of prayer and fasting by joining with others around the world to pray for the crisis in Ukraine. Millions around the world and across denominations are joining together today to pray.
The Lutheran World Federation (LWF), the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC), the Conference of European Churches (CEC), and the World Methodist Council (WMC) are calling for prayers of peace for the people of Ukraine and the region. They will host an online Prayer Service at 4pm UK time today 2nd March (note that is 5pm in Central Europe Time - CET - as per the attched info). Details are attached to this email, but you must register ahead of time on the website if you want to participate. Here's the link to register:
Many other global denominations, including the Church of the Nazarene, are also calling their churches, members and attenders to make today a Day of Prayer and Fasting for Ukraine, and so whether you are able to join this specific service or not, we encourage you to find time and space to pray today for Peace and Justice in Ukraine.
Thank you Church.
Grace and Peace
